Certification of an extract from the Register of Convictions by the Federal Chancellery

Certification is necessary if the extract is required by a foreign authority or an embassy (e.g. for a visa).

If you haven't obtained an extract from the Register of Convictions yet, you can order a certified extract directly for an additional fee (Ordering).

If you already have an extract from the Register of Convictions and would like to have it certified:

1. If no convictions are listed on the extract from the Register of Convictions,

then send the extract to us at the following address, marking it "Please sign for certification":

Swiss Criminal Records
Service for Private Individuals
Bundesrain 20
3003 Bern

We will then sign the extract and send it back to you.

You should then proceed as follows:
Send the signed extract to the Federal Chancellery (at the address given below), telling them that you want it to be certified. Let them know what country the document is intended for.

The cost is CHF 20.-- for each certification. Enclose the money in cash or a post office receipt confirming that you have paid the fee (Postal Account 30-349292-2).

2. If there are convictions listed on the extract from the Register of Convictions,
