Director and Senior Management
The Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) is headed by its Director. The Senior Management, comprising two legal advisors and the secretariat, assist the Director with running the FOJ and also prepare materials for decision-making.
Information and Communications Service
The Information Service is the liaison office for enquiries from the media and private individuals. It is also responsible for the exchange of information within the FOJ.
Representation of Switzerland before the ECHR and the CAT
The Federal Office of Justice represents the Swiss government in appeal proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) as well as before the UN Committee Against Torture (CAT). Where necessary, it follows the national implementation of rulings handed down by these bodies. Reporting to the representative (the agent du gouvernement suisse) is the International Human Rights Unit.
